During the latter half of 2010, rumors began to circulate through Korean media sites that E-Tribe, the producers behind breakthrough hits such as SNSD's Gee and Lee Hyori's U-Go-Girl), were planning to launch a new girl group. The producers quickly denied the rumors and said they were untrue. On December 9, 2010, E-Tribe's small-label company called "Happy Face Entertainment" announced that they would be launching a six-member girl group named Dal Shabet.[1] Profiles of the group members were revealed on December 29, 2010, as well as their January 3 debut date.
On January 3, 2011, Dal Shabet released their debut music video, "Supa Dupa Diva", making them the first girl group to debut in 2011.[2] Promotions for "Supa Dupa Diva" began on January 6, 2011, on M! Countdown.[3] Debut stages on Music Bank, Music Core and Inkigayo followed during the same week. Despite being their debut song, "Supa Dupa Diva" proved to be quite popular as it appeared in Inkigayo's 'Take 7', as well as landing in the 'Top Ten' on M! Countdown and Music Bank. Promotions for "Supa Dupa Diva" ended on March 14, 2011, but it was revealed the group would be holding their first comeback in April.[4] The song was later voted upon by various idols in a survey and was crowned as the second most addicting song of 2011, as well as having the second most popular choreography.[5]
On April 4 and 5, Dal Shabet released jacket photos for their second mini-album, 'Pink Rocket'. On April 11, 2011, a music video teaser for "Pink Rocket" was released. The full-length music video was released two days later.[6] Their second mini-album, 'Pink Rocket', was released on April 14, 2011.[7] Promotions for "Pink Rocket" began on April 14, 2011, on M! Countdown.[8] Comeback stages on Music Bank, Music Core and Inkigayo followed during the same week. Promotions for "Pink Rocket" ended on May 30, 2011, but the group assured fans that they would be releasing another album in late July or early August.[9]
On August 2, 2011, it was announced that Dal Shabet would be making a 'funky' comeback.[10] On August 3, 4 and 6, concept photos for the members were released. On August 7, 2011, a music video teaser for "Bling Bling" was released. The full-length music video and mini-album were released two days later.[11][12] Promotions for "Bling Bling" began on August 12, 2011, on Music Bank.[13] Comeback stages on Music Core, Inkigayo and M! Countdown followed during the same week. "Bling Bling" proved to be their biggest hit, as it managed to chart in the top ten on various music stations over ten times. Promotions for "Bling Bling" officially ended on November 6, 2011. It was revealed that Dal Shabet will be releasing their fourth mini-album in late January. In replacement of the full-length album, Happy Face Entertainment will be releasing a special one year anniversary project for Dal Shabet. This project, which is set to release in January or February, is called ‘Dal★Shabet’s First Story’. This release is limited edition and is rumored to contain over 1,000 unreleased photos as well as a special DVD of the girls in Singapore.[14]
